Founded in 1983, SAWS is celebrating its 31st year of existence. SAWS is a non-profit Society located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Its mandate is to promote fine woodworking to the public and to raise interest in SAWS by encouraging membership.

SAWS at Blackforest

SAWS was present at the October 24-26 Blackforest anniversary.  In addition to a display of past exhibition pieces several SAWS members were on hand to deliver presentations and live demonstrations.

October 15 Meeting Southern Alberta Woodworker's Society

SAWS October 15, 2014 meeting will be held at the Lee Valley store 7261 - 11 Street SE at 7:00 PM.  As this is after normal store hours you will need to knock on the front door to gain entry.



The guest speaker will be Vic Tesolin who is a Technical Advisor with Lee Valley Tools as well as a designer and craftsmen.




Vic will speak on the method of work he uses in his shop. Although he has an affinity for hand tools, he will discuss the value of big machines to hobbyists, the fundamental philosophies of hand tool woodworking, and hand tool use.

SAWS September meeting

First SAWS meeting of the new season Wednesday September 17 at 7 pm Scarboro Community Centre 1727 - 14 Ave SW.  Looking forward to seeing new and regular members.

SAWS at the Calgary Stampede

SAWS will be represented at the Stampede again this year. We will be at the Western Showcase in the BMO Centre. We will be in a small cabin where we will be "Celebrating the Guilds" Friday July 11.
